So, this year, like last year, I really wanted to do National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Every year, November sneaks up on me, like the asshole it is, and I always miss the beginning. Now, that's no surprise - I'm a procrastinator at heart.
However, I've found my solution. Each month, I'm going to make a goal for myself. I'm going to make a goal for writing and stick to it, despite the fact that I rarely keep my personal goals.
December: Write a story in 31 words, one each day.
I like this idea. Process writing can be incredibly precious and/or pretentious, but the concept of daily mood changes affecting the tonal direction of the story one word at a time is an intriguing one. If you feel like sharing it when it's finished, you have an audience. Then again, I completely understand if you don't feel like sharing it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll inspire me to start working on my super-ambitious cycle of 89 short stories that I abandoned a couple of years ago.
